Alastair Baker and Cédric Phounpadith reinforce team's capacity
Sarasin & Partners – the global thematic investment manager which invests £18.2 billion* on behalf of charities, private clients, intermediaries, and institutions – has added two senior investment professionals to its team.
Multi-asset fund manager Alastair Baker has moved to Sarasin & Partners to work with Guy Monson, Chief Market Strategist and Senior Partner, on the management of Sarasin’s Target Return strategies. Baker has 14 years’ investment experience in building and managing multi-asset investment solutions. He spent the first 13 years of his career at Schroders working with a range of global pension funds, insurance companies and institutions. Most recently he was at abrdn, where he undertook a comprehensive review of their multi-asset investment capability.
Additionally, Cédric Phounpadith has joined the asset management team as Head of Investment Risk. He has 13 years of risk management experience across all asset classes. He was previously in Paris with HSBC Global Asset Management, working on multi-asset quantitative solutions. He was also responsible for the risk management of fixed income portfolios at Standard Life Investments. Most recently he was at Vanguard, where he focused on equity index and multi-asset strategies.
Subitha Subramaniam, head of asset management at Sarasin & Partners, commented: “The addition of Alastair and Cédric adds further weight to our growing asset management team. Their appointments reinforce our ability to deliver multi-asset solutions to meet our clients’ needs. They also enhance our capacity to safeguard our clients' investments, ensuring we continue to manage the risk we take on behalf of our clients in a prudent manner.”
Sarasin & Partners’ thematic investment approach focuses on five key global trends – digitalisation, automation, ageing, evolving consumption and climate change – that will play the most significant role in shaping the investment landscape over the long term. Thinking thematically aims to identify the companies that benefit from these trends.
Sarasin & Partners’ charities team oversees investment portfolios for a diverse array of educational, medical, religious, and grant-making charities. Its private client business offers tailored and flexible investment solutions to suit a wide range of client types – including individuals, family offices, international clients and offshore trusts, as well as UK resident non-domiciled clients and US persons. Sarasin & Partners’ UK intermediary team provides various investment vehicles to suit advisers and their clients. Investors can choose risk-rated outsourced solutions such as model portfolios and bespoke discretionary fund management services or invest directly in a range of single strategy and multi-asset funds. The institutional business leverages Sarasin & Partners’ distinctive thematic approach to achieve clients’ long-term investment goals.
